Everything covered in water all the time.

I didn't have a direction or a label, but I had time and a desire to disappear. "Vision quest," a friend offered optimistically. I needed to be beyond reach. I needed to gaze into glassy tide pools and see a living ecosystem that wasn't me. I needed the ocean to wash away proof of my passage.
I needed fog to obscure me.

Weeks on end, drenched. I wondered if I had been wiped clean.
At the northern terminus you flew out to hold my hand. We got a warm lodge room and ate hot dogs and stayed up all night puzzling sea creatures back together. In morning sunshine I was surprised to find I had survived a healing odyssey to dry ground. Where I finally grasped that green things surface when watered.
