Where the concept for "Ranch Brands" was conceived is irrelevant:  bumping along on a 4WD road in the wilderness, hefting a pack in the backcountry, standing in a grove of silent Sequoiadendron giganteum, or paddling through a bed a kelp.  The idea to create a language of brands for the National Park Service was inevitable:  a product of years of catalogued experiences.  In any case, a searing of the soul and an insatiable need to visit all 59 national parks and be marked forever.

Each of the brands contains the initials of the park it represents with minimal symbol interventions that together conjure a sense of place.  Some are maps, some are feelings.  Happy hunting, many parks to go.
