Too small for a growing family, this single level home was expanded, taking advantage of space on a downslope lot and letting in light and views to the southwest.  A lower level was carved into the hillside to create a private master suite and a family room with a direct connection onto a play lawn and lushly landscaped bioswale.  Formerly closed off living spaces now open up to a spacious great room and deck/green roof with views toward Mt. Tamalpais.  The interior makes use of reclaimed cedar and douglas fir from the original framing.
